Frankie’s is a tribute to our owner Elio’s great grandfather Gaetano and friend Francesco aka ‘Frankie’ who set off on a boat for America with a leg of prosciutto and a sack of cannellini beans in the early 1900’s to make a better life. They worked on the Brooklyn Bridge and later moved on to Colorado to mine gold. Sadly after making the long boat trip back to Italy years later they were set upon by thieves, Francesco’s gold was stolen and he lost his life. Gaetano managed to get away. He made his way back to his home town Atina and went on to buy a farm and raise his family with his wife Maria.
The New York slice is our way of carrying that journey home to Cork: hand-stretched dough, a thin crisp base you can fold, and toppings that don’t hold back. You’ll find us at Marina Market on Centre Park Road, every day of the week.
